Ramesh V. Katti, MP, has welcomed the announcement of Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on creation of two new taluks, Nippani and Kagwad, coming under the Chikkodi parliamentary constituency.

In a release here on Saturday, he said Mr. Shettar’s first budget was pro-common man and pro-farmer. .

The failure of the Chief Minister to consider any of the long-pending demands of health activists in his annual budget has disappointed thousands of workers across the State. In a release, Belgaum district ASHA Workers’ Association president Laxman Jadgannavar said Governor H.R. Bhardwaj had acknowledged the role being played by nearly 33,000 health activists in bringing down mother and child mortality rates in rural areas. Yet, the government had not bothered to increase their honorariums.
