BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday dismissed a petition by a resident of Krishnarajapuram (K.R. Puram) and said that the tank bed he was laying claim to in K.R. Puram village belonged to the Government.

Justice N.K. Patil passed the order on a petition by H. Basavaraj challenging the Government move to remove his name from the mutation register and RTC. The Government claimed that he had fabricated the documents relating to the land.

It said the land near the lake in K.R. Puram village did not belong to Basavaraj and the mutation entries were made on the basis of fabricated records.

The Government said it decided to remove Basavaraj’s name from the mutation register and the RTC after it came to know that the records were fabricated. Basavaraj had challenged this action before the High Court. He said the Government itself had granted the land to him and that the records were not fabricated.

The Government said the land on Survey No. 9 measured 2.2 acres and was worth Rs. 12 crore.
