Councillors of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) lashed out at the HCL, the company which had been awarded the work of developing e-governance solutions for the local body. At a meeting specially convened by Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari, the councillors alleged that bills had been settled even before the completion of the project. “As per the agreement, the HCL is bound to collect its money only after delivering all the work. But the KMC administration had paid the bills after completing just six services,” they said. The delay in the completion of the project came in for sharp criticism. Councillors differed on whether the company should be blacklisted for failing to complete the project in time. The meeting then decided to give six months to complete the remaining work. — Correspondent
