Principal Sessions Judge (Senior Division) B.N. Lavanyalatha on Tuesday awarded four-year sentence with a fine of Rs. 5,000 to Lakshman, a former officer with the Backward Classes Development Corporation, on charge of taking bribe. The incident took place in September 2005 and he had retired in August 2005. Lakshman was trapped by the Lokayukta when he was taking bribe from a person for sanctioning loan though he had already retired and was no longer in service. The Lokayukta later handed over the case to the police. — Staff Correspondent
