The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the State Chief Secretary and Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. to file their responses to a contempt of court petition complaining that B.R. Ambedkar’s statue, situated in front of the Vidhana Soudha, has not been shifted yet despite an order from the court.

Plea

A Division Bench comprising Justice N.K. Patil and Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy passed the order while hearing a petition that complained that the statue was not shifted despite the December 12, 2012, order of the High Court. Meanwhile, the government counsel informed the Bench that another Division Bench had recently passed an order and thus the December 12 order stood modified.

Following this, the Bench directed them to file their response while adjourning further hearing.
