The district administration will blacklist contractors who have caused a delay in the implementation of waterworks in the district.

“We are also planning to file criminal complaints against such contractors,” said Deputy Commissioner P.C. Jaffer at a meeting to review drinking water schemes here on Thursday.

Only seven of the 25 works under the Jal Nirmal scheme were complete, with some multi-village schemes pending too. Of the Rs. 94.69 crore set aside for these projects, only around Rs. 51 crore had been spent and 57 per cent progress achieved. This needed to be speeded up, Mr. Jaffer said.

Zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Latha Kumari were present.
