Children’s Rights in Goa (CRG) and the Department of Women and Child Development will organise a two-day consultation on “Effectiveness of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Goa Children’s Act” at Caritas Holiday Hall in the city from Thursday.

Nina Nayak, member of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), will deliver the keynote address during the inaugural function on Thursday. Ms. Nayak is former Chairperson of Bangalore Child Welfare Committee and former Chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR)). She has co-authored a book, “Justice for children – Handbook on implementing the JJ system”.

Samira Kazi, Chairperson of the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR), will be the chief guest.

This consultation will be held with special reference to the best practices adopted by various statutory bodies, NGOs and the government to ensure effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Goa Children’s Act in the best interests of children. Resource persons for the two-day consultation are from government departments, NGOs, academics, and individuals.
