BANGALORE: A senior official from the British Consulate on Wednesday called the Bangalore City Police seeking the body of Jake George Cole (23).

But the city police said: “It will not be possible to hand over the body without conducting the post-mortem”.

“An official called us and said that nobody from George’s family is able to visit India to take possession of the body.

“The right of claiming the body has been given to the Consulate officials,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division) B. Shiva Kumar told The Hindu.

U.K. security officials might conduct an inquiry into his death, he said.

The tourist died after he fell face down during clamber over a barricade on the median in front of the Bangalore City Railway Station on Tuesday.
