‘People are happy with our performance’

D. Basavaraj, general secretary of the District Congress Committee and member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, said that in the before last Assembly elections, his party’s candidate had been defeated by a meagre margin of a little over 2,000 votes, in spite of a strong BJP wave in the region. However, this time, the Congress would win the next Lok Sabha elections with a huge majority as the people had realised that the BJP could not give effective governance.Addressing party workers here on Saturday, Mr. Basavaraj said that people were fed up of the misrule of the BJP government in the State during the past five years. Going by the results of five different elections held in the State in the last few months, there was no doubt that people were in favour of the Congress, he said. A. Siddraju, former MP and party observer, in his address said that people were happy for bringing the Congress to power in the State. Abdul Jabbar, president of the DCC, and N. Sampangi, former MLA, spoke.
