Following the strict code of conduct and the restrictions on expenditure imposed by the Election Commission, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee is resorting to social media such as Facebook, voice mail and SMSes.

Speaking to presspersons after a meeting of the KPCC campaign committee, party leader and MLA D.K. Shivakumar said the Congress was thinking of using its website for highlighting the achievements of the UPA government at the Centre and the failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the State.

Campaign focus

Mr. Shivakumar said the campaign would concentrate on the funds released by the Centre to the State for welfare schemes and the failure of the BJP government in utilising them.

He said that top leaders such as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, party president Sonia Gandhi, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Union Ministers such as Ghulam Nabi Azad, P. Chidambaram and Sushil Kumar Shinde would address election campaigns.
