The police have registered a criminal complaint against 300 advocates, including 18 officer-bearers of the Kolhapur District Bar Association for peace at the collector’s office here on Wednesday.

Shivajirao Rane, president of the association, secretary Prakash More, and office-bearers Manik Mulik and Vivek Ghatge are among the 18 persons who will face inquiry.

The three-day agitation by advocates for a High Court’s Division Bench in Kolhapur ended on Wednesday with a procession to the collector’s office.

The advocates waited outside the office expecting that the collector or the resident deputy collector will receive their memorandum. But when nobody came out, the advocates barged into the conference room where the officials were having a meeting. Enraged by this, Resident Deputy Collector Sanjay Pawar ordered the police to evict the advocates from the office.

This led to an argument between the advocates and the officials. Later, Additional Collector Appasaheb Dhulaj came out and received the memorandum from the advocates. The police registered a complaint against the agitating advocates for disturbing peace at the collector’s office.
