BANGALORE: A petition was filed before the Karnataka High Court on Monday by 96 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) with each of them demanding a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh for wrongful and illegal arrest. The petitioners, Mohammad Waseem and others, said they had decided to organise a protest at Fountain Circle in Mysore on July 9, 2009. They said when the protest was on, police had arrested many of them. Waseem and others said the police had not followed the due procedure of law while arresting them. — Staff Reporter
