Commuters vented their ire against the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) for running a skeletal service in some parts of the district on Monday after over 360 buses were hired by the Janata Dal (Secular) for their convention.

Traffic on the busy Mysore-Hunsur Road (Mysore-Bantwal State Highway) was disrupted as the people blocked the road near Bannikuppe village in protest against the non-arrival or delayed arrival of KSRTC buses on regular routes. They said commuters had been inconvenienced due to the disruption in services.

Stranded

Vehicles were stranded on the road due to the protest. The police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic. Bus commuters had to make alternative arrangements to reach their destinations.

Even the intra-city bus services here were affected. Commuters were forced to wait for long at the city bus-stand.

The smooth movement of traffic was also affected on the important roads around the Maharaja College grounds (venue of the convention) as buses had been parked on the road sides.
