Kumar Pushkar, director, Bandipur Tiger Reserve, has urged candidates writing various competitive exams to develop an interest for learning languages.

Communication is the key to success, he has said.

Mr. Pushkar was inaugurating an English learning camp for candidates writing various competitive exams at the Karnataka State Open University here on Wednesday. It has been organised by the university’s competitive examinations training centre. English, a legacy of the British, had become a universal language that could not be dispensed with, even as the world became a “global village”. Even the Chinese and Russians were learning it, he said. On the other hand, learning local languages would endear one to the masses and ensure goodwill, he added.

Exhorting aspirants to work hard, Anup Dayanand Sadhu, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, South Western Railway, Mysore, pointed out that their options included the exams conducted annually by the Railway Recruitment Board.

Chandrashekaraiah, retired principal, JSS College, Mysore, KSOU Vice-Chancellor K.S. Rangappa were present.
