A district-level coordination committee has been formed to look into cases of domestic violence.

The Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate is the chairman of the committee and the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority is the co-chairman. The Superintendent of Police, the District Public Prosecutor, the District Health and Family Welfare Officer, the Information Officer and two nominated members of pro-women non-governmental organisations will be members while the Deputy Director of Women and Child Development will be the member secretary. Two more members can be nominated.

The committee will oversee the implementation of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, work towards providing relief to victims and assist them in getting cases cleared quickly. The committee will also be responsible for spreading awareness about women's rights, said a release.
