After a gap of 10 days, cold wave conditions returned in north interior Karnataka districts.

Bijapur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 10.2 degree Celsius at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The minimum temperature recorded in Bijapur was 6 degrees Celsius lower than the average minimum temperature recorded during the first week of January.

However, temperatures changed little over coastal and south interior Karnataka.

Gulbarga recorded 10.7 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees Celsius lower than the average minimum temperature recorded during the first week of January.

Other places in north interior Karnataka where temperatures fell were Raichur where the minimum temperature recorded was 11 degrees Celsius.

Bagalkot recorded a minimum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has warned that there would be severe cold wave conditions in some parts of north interior Karnataka and moderate cold wave conditions at isolated places in south interior Karnataka in the next 48 hours.
