MANGALORE: A Corps of Detectives team brought Assadullah Abubakkar, one of the terror-suspects arrested by the State police, to the city to verify his antecedents here. The team was pursuing a lead obtained through a receipt of a lodge on K.S. Rao Road here. The receipt had been seized from Riyazuddin Nasir and Assadullah. Riyazzuddin is reportedly among the seven terror-suspects arrested in Karnataka. Ashit Mohan Prasad, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), told The Hindu here on Monday that the CoD was verifying reports of Nasir and Assadullah that they had stayed in the city. “The accused had hinted about their visit to the city during interrogation,” he said.

The Inspector-General of Police (Eastern Range) H.N. Sathyanarayana Rao, during his recent private visit to Mangalore, had told presspersons that Nasir and Assadullah had visited the city, without disclosing the locations of their stay. Police officials from Davangere had come to the city to verify the movements of these suspects here, Mr. Rao had said.
