Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday condoled the death of the former Goa Governor and ex-Foreign Secretary Romesh Bhandari who died after a prolonged illness on Saturday.

Bhandari (85), served as the Governor of Goa from June 16, 1995 to July 19, 1996. He was also a Foreign Secretary in the Foreign Service. Shri Bhandari made noteworthy contribution in the pursuit of Gandhiji’s vision of a non-violent world, and the guidelines of India’s foreign policy.

Mr. Parrikar said in his condolence message, “In the passing away of Mr. Bhandari, India has lost a true son and servant of the nation. He served the country with distinction in many capacities throughout his life. May God grant eternal peace to his soul and courage to his family members to bear this irreparable loss.”
