Madikeri: Candidates who contested the elections to the four urban local bodies in Kodagu on Friday have been keeping their fingers crossed, waiting for the votes to be counted on Sunday.

Twenty-five counting supervisors, 50 assistants and 25 group D employees have been posted for counting duty duty at Madikeri, Somwarpet and Virajpet.

In Madikeri, votes will be counted at Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College. Counting of votes for the Virajpet Taluk Panchayat will be held at the town panchayat hall. For Somwarpet and Kushalnagar town panchayats, the votes will be counted at the Chennabasappa Hall in Somwarpet.

Counting will begin at 8 a.m. and results are likely to be out by noon. According to the final statistics, out of the 53,241 voters in the four urban local bodies, 31,445 voted in Friday’s elections.
