The city police have cracked 20 cases of chain-snatching and 25 cases of theft in recent months across various police stations under the West division and have seized valuables worth Rs. 65.5 lakh, including 1.8 kg gold and 13.6 kg silver.

In one incident, three women were arrested for stealing from bus passengers in Kalasipalya police station limits. In another, the Upparpet police arrested a man earlier this month and recovered Rs. 12.47-lakh worth of valuables from him. Three others were arrested in the City Market area. Similarly, about 11 cases of chain snatching were registered in Jnanabharati police station and at police stations in Chandra Layout, Kamakshipalya, Basaweshwarnagar, Channamanakere Achukattu, Srirampura, Malleshwaram, Tilaknagar, J.P Nagar, Jnanabharati, Rajarajeshwari and Cottonpet.
