Shimoga Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedikegala Okkuta has demanded Shimoga City Municipal Council to maintain quality in road development works.

In a release, the okkuta has demanded the CMC to take steps to ensure transparency in the implementation of road development works under the Rs. 25-crore special grant provided by the State Government. The details on the work undertaken, the estimate of the work, contractor who had bagged the tender, and the engineer of the CMC who monitored the work should be made public.

Vedike demanded the CMC to take local people into confidence while implementing the work, and complete the work by the deadline. Vedike demanded CMC to adopt proper quality control steps to avoid substandard work. Equipment such as concrete slump test apparatus, concrete cube mould, bitumen extractor, depth gauge, and non-contract thermometer should be purchased before the commencement of the work, the Okkuta has demanded. Okkuta has asked the CMC to undertake the work of developing the roads on the city outskirts.
