A travels manager of the IT major Cisco died in a fall from the seventh floor of his apartment building on Whitefield Main Road here on Thursday evening.

The Whitefield police said that death was instantaneous for Parijath Bannerjee (39), a native of Kolkata. The police, quoting neighbours as saying, said that Mr. Bannerjee, who intended to sell his flat at Brigade Harmony, was waiting for a prospective buyer at the balcony around 5.15 p.m. when he fell. He lived with his wife and two children in a house on Bannerghatta Road.

Student suicide

Ranjitha Prabhanna (18), a student of BMS College for Women, hanged herself to death at her home near D.V.G. Road here on Wednesday night. Her father Prabhanna, a milkman, told the police that the suicide came to light when her family members and neighbours broke down the door.


The R.T. Nagar police arrested two former employees of Muthoot Nidhi Finance, the banking and finance wing of the Muthoot group, on the charge of stealing gold ornaments pledged with the firm.

Their names were given as Sukumar Sriram (33) of Dattatreya Nagar near Banashankari and Rajeshwari Srinivas (32) of Nagavara.
