Cheating case

The City West police in Raichur city on Wednesday, registered a cheating case against Manjunath, Chief Officer of the city central library, and R.S. Mathpati, Chief Officer of the district library, for alleged misuse of power. The police said that Mallesh, a contractor, had filed a private complaint with the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) court here complaining that the two officials had cheated the Government with regard to hiring a private vehicle for their office use. In the complaint, it said that Mr. Manjunath had hired a private vehicle on contract for Rs.2.40 lakh annually. Though a tender was called in April to hire a vehicle, the officer concerned had closed the tender before its deadline. He finalised a vehicle based on a single tender.
