MYSORE: Christmas was celebrated with traditional fervour in various parts of the city on Friday.

Homes of Christians, Christian institutions and churches were decorated with colourful lights, buntings and stars.

Many homes and churches had cribs depicting the scene of nativity, and Christmas trees.

Special midnight mass was held in all churches to mark the occasion.

Major attraction

The historical St. Philomena’s Church was a major attraction in the city. A large number of people, irrespective of their religion, visited the church on Friday.

The ringing of bells at the church heralded the celebrations at the stroke of midnight. Religious rituals had commenced around 11.30 p.m. on Thursday with a group singing carols.
