The much-awaited Chitra Santhe, held on the last Sunday of January, will take place on January 30 this year on the Kumara Krupa Road.
The eighth edition of the santhe, organised by the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (KCP), is expected to attract over 2,000 artists from across the country.
KCP administrator M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda, told presspersons here on Thursday the aim is to provide artists a viable platform for their creativity. “The highlight this year is the invited art show and sale of eminent and young artists' works in the main galleries of the Parishath,” he said.
The 100 or so special invitees will showcase contemporary art in Karnataka at the parishath from January 29 to 31.
Pointing out that the Chitra Santhe will help identify and encourage young artists as well as educate people about art and its importance, Mr. Gowda said the fair intends to make art affordable and available to all sections of society.
