Sriramapuram and Okalipuram residents are affected

BANGALORE: Residents of Sriramapuram and Okalipuram have been experiencing irritation in their eyes since Sunday night and the source of their discomfort turned out to be a chemical stored in drums on Railway property near the Okalipuram bridge.

The police and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) personnel had searched the area looking for the cause till residents guided them to the several drums containing various levels of chemical on Monday morning.

“We don’t know how these drums have come to be on Railway property,” said a police officer. The BBMP officers are now digging a pit to bury the drums.
