HASSAN: Leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) Legislature Party H.D. Revanna has alleged that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa was directly involved in the coal scam and claimed that he had enough evidence to back his claim and was ready to place it before the Legislative Assembly. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Revanna said that the State Government had only used five lakh tonnes of the seven lakh tonnes allotted to it by the Centre and had not responded to requests asking them to use the remainder. Instead, the Chief Minister, from his residence, had sent a fax message to the Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation to import 6 lakh tonnes of coal at the rate of Rs. 8,000 a tonne, while domestic coal was available at Rs. 3,000 a tonne, he said.

He said the Chief Minister had earlier announced that he would convene 20-day legislature session in October, but had now postponed it to November.

This demonstrated how the Chief Minister was trying to avoid confrontation, Mr. Revanna alleged.
