Babulal Jain, member of the National Rail Users' Consultative Committee, has urged K.H. Muniyappa, Minister of State for Railways, to run the two new trains announced in the Railway Budget via Guntakal, Bellary and Hospet.
Mr. Jain toldThe Hinduon Saturday that he had raised this issue in his recent letter to Mr. Muniyappa.
In the letter, referring to the announcement made by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee that two trains, Chennai-Shirdi and Yeshwanthpur-Ahmedabad, would be introduced this year, Mr. Jain has said, “We have been demanding for the past two years that the Yeshwanthpur-Shirdi-Yeshwanthpur weekly train that passes through Guntakal, Bellary, Hospet and Gadag be converted into daily and permanent one. But the facility has not been extended so far. I request you (Mr. Muniyappa) to at least make the new train proposed between Chennai and Shirdi run via Guntakal, Bellary, Gadag and Sholapur for the benefit of passengers of this region.”
Mr. Jain has also drawn the attention of Mr. Muniyappa to the Railway Board's suggestion to run the Yeshwanthpur-Ahmedabad train via Hubli and Bijapur and has urged him to intervene in the matter and get the new train routed through Guntakal, Bellary and Gadag, as the distance was shorter, compared to the one suggested by the Railway Board.
