Chief Minister to inaugurate the building

The chamber has associated itself actively with several public welfare causes

SHIMOGA: The building of the Shimoga District Chamber of Commerce and Industry here, renovated at a cost of Rs. 60 lakh, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on May 27.

Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh R. Nirani will inaugurate the Shantala Conference Hall while the president of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry, J. Crasta, will inaugurate the Board Meeting Hall.

Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board D.H. Shankarmurthy will inaugurate the office building, while local MLA and State BJP president K.S. Eshwarappa will inaugurate the Computers and Internet Services.

The chamber which was established with the help of Grain Merchants Association in 1963 has now grown substantially as a premier institution.

Its contribution towards the overall development of the district too has been noteworthy.

The chamber has associated itself actively with several public welfare causes such as the establishment of Government Medical College, airport, private bus-stand, Regional Provident Fund Office, Shimoga-Bhadravati Industrial Corridor, the Special Economic Zone and the Information Technology Park, among others.
