Karnataka Zone Secretary of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Employees Union C.K. Gundanna alleged policies followed by the Union government were responsible for the organisation’s problems.

He was inaugurating the first Dharwad district-level convention of BSNL Non-Permanent Employees Union here recently.

Mr. Gundanna said BSNL was suffering losses as the Union government had given preferential treatment to private companies.

“Because of government policies, the number of permanent employees has decreased.

Their place is being filled by appointing employees on contract basis through outsourcing, who are being exploited,” he said.

CITU district secretary Mahesh Pattar briefed the audience about the objectives of the convention.
