HUBLI: Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi has said that a Central team of officials from the Department of Environment and Forests will inspect the revised alignment of the Hubli-Ankola railway line by the end of this month.
In a release issued from New Delhi, Mr. Joshi has said that this was decided at a meeting of the Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests, the Union Minister of State for Railways, Canara MP and senior officials of South Western Railway in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Mr. Joshi has said that Tuesday’s meeting was held based on a decision taken during the recent meeting he, Anantkumar Hegde (Canara MP) and MP H.N. Ananth Kumar had with the Union Minister Jairam Ramesh.
Mr. Joshi has in the release said that during Tuesday’s meeting Union Minister of State for Railways Muniyappa and senior officials from South Western Railways, himself and Mr. Hegde justified the need for the Hubli-Ankola railway line for the development of North Karnataka.
Mr. Jairam Ramesh said that he would take steps based on a report of the team, led by Additional Director General of Department of Environment and Forests Gangopadhyaya, which would inspect the revised alignment of the railway line, according to the release.
Director General of Environment and Forests Dilip and senior railway official Vijay Kumaran participated in the meeting, the release has said.
