It is being done to avoid frivolous litigation
Some crucial procedures to be recorded properly
BANGALORE: For the first time, surveillance cameras will capture the process of seat selection during the counselling for admission to medical, engineering and dental seats beginning June 2 at five locations in the State.
The officials of the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) said that round-the-clock recording of video and audio recording of the process would be done to ensure transparency and to avoid frivolous litigations on counselling process.
Surveillance cameras would be installed at five centres – KEA headquarters in Bangalore; Hubli counselling centre at BVB College of Engineering and Technology; Gulbarga counselling centre at HKE Society's Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering; Shimoga counselling centre at PES Institute of Technology and Management; and Mangalore counselling centre at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management.
The officials said that some persons, after the completion of counselling process during previous year, had raised certain questions related to actions taking place in the counselling centre.
Some issues had reached the court.
“We want to ensure that the process is transparent and there should not be any scope for frivolous complaints and litigations,” said an official.
The audio-video recording would be done in such a manner that certain crucial procedures were recorded properly.
Meanwhile, the KEA is preparing to conduct mock-counselling sessions from next week at all the centres to train the staff.
