Spelling more trouble for the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday ordered issue of summons to him, three of his family members and others in the illegal mining kickback case being probed by it.

CBI court judge Venkata Sundarshan, who ordered issue of summons on November 16, directed all of them to be present in court on December 10.

On October 16, the CBI had filed a charge sheet before the special court against Mr. Yeddyurappa, his sons B.Y. Vijayendra and B.Y. Raghavendra, son-in-law R.N. Sohan Kumar, the former Minister Krishnaiah Setty, the CEO and senior vice-president of a Bellary-based private steel company, a Shimoga-based Trust and five Bellary-based private companies for alleged abuse of official position and corruption.

They were charged under IPC sections, including 120-B (conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) as also under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Karnataka Land (Restriction on) Transfer Act. — PTI
