At Vijayanama Maralingappa Chour’s house, the Lokayukta sleuths recovered Rs. 10 lakh cash from a washing machine. “For over two hours, we did not find any substantial amount of cash. However, further investigation led us to the washing machine,” said Lokayukta Superintendent of Police D.S. Jagamayyanavar.

Earlier, when the Lokayukta officials were on their way to raid Mr. Chour’s residence, they met him on the way and asked him for directions to his house without knowing that he was the one being raided. “When we disclosed our identity, the official panicked and ran to his house and locked it from inside. He opened the door only after keeping us outside for at least 30 minutes,” Mr. Jagamayyanavar said.
