They were accused of negligence

Relatives of patient allege lack of timely treatment

They refused to take his body till cases were filed

HASSAN: The police registered cases against doctors Lokesh and Madhu of Jaya Chamarajendra Government Hospital, Hassan, and also against a nurse on the charge of negligence, which allegedly led to the death of a patient, Malaiah, on Saturday.

Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Pangam said here on Sunday that Malaiah was brought to the hospital on Saturday from Baraguru village in Arkalgud taluk, but died as timely treatment was not provided. Relatives of the patient refused to take back his body till cases were registered against the doctors on duty. An investigation is on.

Dies in accident

one man was killed and eight were severely injured when the van in which they were travelling collided with another van on the Holenarsipur-Hassan road on Sunday. The police identified the dead as Harish. The injured people are recovering in hospital. The police said the accident took place at 9.30 a.m.

In another incident, one man died and another was severely injured when the two-wheelers they were riding collided.

The accident occurred in Chennarayapatna on Sunday. The police identified the deceased as Manju and the injured person as Chamaraja.
