MYSORE: Admission season is here again. For thousands of students who have completed their exams and are poised to make a career choice, there are testing times of another kind.
To guide you through this difficult process, The Hindu returns with the second edition of our annual career guidance session in Mysore. An off-page extension of your weekly supplement The Hindu EducationPlus, the event is titled “Charting Your Course”.
In an all-new interactive avatar, it will be held on Sunday at the Swami Vivekananda Hall, Mahajana PU College, Jayalakshmipuram, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore V.G. Talawar will inaugurate the session and release a handbook on career options titled “Charting Your Course”. Prof. Talawar will talk on “Choosing the right career”.
The second session will demystify the professional college admission process. Short presentations will me made by Karnataka Examinations Authority official D.S. Narasimhamurthy on CET admissions, and assistant professor from R.V. College of Engineering D. Ranganath on COMED-K admission process. An interactive session will follow where students and parents can get their doubts cleared.
A presentation by Ameen Mudassar, founder of Cigma Foundation (our knowledge partner), on career options, followed by a talk on educational loan schemes by M.V.M. Prasad, regional manager, State Bank of India, will conclude the session.
In the third session, experts will take queries on topics ranging from foreign education to soft skills and funding education. Our panellists are B.G. Sangameshwara, principal, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore; G.L. Shekar, vice-principal, National Institute of Engineering, Mysore; Asha Shekar, associate professor, Mysore Medical College; Shivanand Salgame, CEO of iLearn International, an educational services firm; Naresh Gulati, an expert on foreign education, and Mr. Mudassar.
In addition, students will take home a free copy of Charting Your Course, our well-researched publication that presents a wide range of expert articles mapping trends. It offers guidance on careers ranging from pure mathematics and space engineering to animation and design. It will help you choose the right college and even offers a four-step plan to improve soft skills.
Students who have completed or are studying in class X, second year pre-university course or class XII are invited.
