Career counselling session for students in Gulbarga today

GULBARGA: To guide students in choosing the right career, The Hindu returns with the seventh edition of our annual career guidance session in Gulbarga in an all-new interactive format.

An off-page extension of your weekly supplement The Hindu EducationPlus, the event titled ‘Charting Your Course' will be held on Tuesday at the Doddappa Appa Auditorium on the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangh campus in Gulbarga city from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University Suresh S. Honnappagol will inaugurate the session and deliver the keynote address on “Choosing the right career”. He will also release our 124-page career handbook titled Charting Your Course.

Karnataka Examinations Authority official Mahesh Alland and A.G. Prathab, a representative of COMED-K, will interact with students on the modalities of admission during the CET and COMED-K counselling sessions respectively.

This will be followed by a 30-minute session by founder and director of Cigma Foundation (our knowledge partner) Ameen-e-Mudassar on various career options. A senior official from the State Bank of India, which is co-sponsoring the event , will make a brief presentation on the process of obtaining education loans.

The next session will enlighten students on the scope of various courses in medicine, engineering and dental sciences, and other courses. Our panellists Professor Emeritus P.S. Shankar, principal of Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering and IIT Kanpur alumni L.S. Biradar, IIT Kharagpur alumni P.K. Kulkarni and soft skills expert Ravi Gaddagimath will answer queries from students and their parents.

Career handbook

In addition, students will take home a free copy of ‘Charting Your Course', a well-researched publication that presents a wide range of expert articles charting trends, providing information and helping you plan the next step after graduation. This handbook offers guidance on careers ranging from pure mathematics and space engineering to animation and design. It also carries articles that will help you choose a college, demystify the admission process and even offers a four-step plan to improve your soft skills.

Students who have completed II PUC or class 12 are invited.
