Central government is convening a meeting of CMs to fix fair price

With the Union government convening a meeting of four States in New Delhi tomorrow to resolve the issue of dues to the sugarcane farmers, their leaders have sought an effective presentation of their case before the Union government in order to protect their interest.

Describing the meeting as an opportunity to air the views in favour of sugarcane farmers, Panchappa Kalburgi, president of Bheema Nadi Neeru Horata Samiti, said the States should urge the Union government to ban the import of sugar. “When India produces surplus sugar, what is the need of importing sugar from other countries?”
