Hema Malini turns up for BJP, Kumaraswamy for Sriramulu
Roadshows by the Bharatiya Janata Party and Independent candidate B. Sriramulu on Monday marked the end of public campaigning for the Bellary Rural Assembly byelection, which will be held on Wednesday.
All the three major contenders — the BJP, the Congress, and Mr. Sriramulu — have taken the byelection very seriously and stepped up their campaigning towards the end.
On Monday, the BJP organised an impressive roadshow in the Cowl Bazaar area here, in which renowned actor Hema Malini, along with Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Stae president of the party K.S. Eshwarappa and several Ministers, participated and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of the BJP candidate.
Similar roadshows were held in the Gonal and Rupanagudi areas.
Several veteran leaders of the Congress, including Siddaramaiah, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly; G. Parmeshwara, KPCC president; V.S. Ugrappa; and Mahadevappa, visited many villages.
Mr. Sriramulu organised a roadshow in which hundreds of his supporters participated.
The major attraction of the roadshow was the participation of H.D. Kumarswamy, State president of the Janata Dal (S) and former Chief Minister, in the programme, along with several local leaders of the party.
It was followed by a public meeting.
