Campaign launched on importance of nutritious food

The Information Department in association with the Women and Child Development Department and the Health and Family Welfare Department launched a campaign here on Thursday to spread awareness on the importance of nutritious food.

Street plays and other programmes will be conducted in 160 villages in Hassan district till December 22 to spread awareness on the issue.

District and Sessions judge K.B. Chengappa, who inaugurated the campaign, said that providing women and children with nutritious food would help build a strong nation. Death of children due to malnutrition was a shame, he said, and added that people should be made aware of the importance of nutrition. K.H. Nagaraj, Hassan ZP Chief Executive Officer; A.R. Prakash, Deputy Director of Information Department; Shyamaladevi, District Health Officer; H.C. Chidanand, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development, and Shakeel Ahmed, Deputy Director of Horticulture Department, were present.
