State convener of the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti Venkatagiriaiah said here on Thursday that corruption could be eradicated only if education, industry and insurance sectors were nationalised.

He was speaking after inaugurating a State-level seminar on the occasion of B.R. Ambedkar’s 56th Parinirvana Diwas organised by the samiti.

B.P. Maheshchandra Guru, professor of journalism and communication in the University of Mysore, called upon Dalits and people belonging to backward classes to develop scientific temperament and stop visiting temples.

“… As Ambedkar had stated, the country can achieve progress by annihilation of castes,” he said.

DSS leader M. Somashekhar and economist Shanmugam were among those present at the programme.
