Several organisations working for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes on Thursday welcomed the Union Cabinet’s nod to increase the total income ceiling under the Central sector scholarship scheme of ‘Top Class Education for Scheduled Tribe Students’. It has been increased from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum, with effect from the selection year 2013-14.
This will enable more ST students to avail themselves of the benefits of the scheme. This would also act as a major incentive for ST students.
