A Cabinet subcommittee will be constituted in two days to look into the demand for creating more taluks in the State, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has said.

Mr. Shettar, who made a brief visit to the city on Monday to attend a private function, told presspersons that there was a demand to create one taluk for each Assembly constituency. The Gaddigowdar committee and two other committees formed for the purpose earlier too had given the same opinion. Besides, there was pressure from MLAs, Mr. Shettar said.

The subcommittee would look into the issue and give a report.

The Bharatiya Janata Party would come back to power in the Assembly elections, Mr. Shettar said in reply to a question.
