In a shocking case, the MICO Layout police on Thursday arrested a cab driver for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter several times since December 2010. The child is now 14 weeks pregnant.

The MICO Layout police told The Hindu that the accused was in an inebriated condition when he first raped the child, a daughter from his second wife, about three months ago at his relative's house at Lakkammanahalli.

Thereafter, he raped her at least four times. The traumatised girl, who was doing well at school, scoring an average 97 per cent, finally told her mother about it on Wednesday night. The latter then lodged a complaint against the husband.

The girl has been sent for a medical examination, the police said.

Ganja seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested a man here on Wednesday with ganja worth Rs.75,000 allegedly meant for inmates of the Bangalore Central prison at Parappana Agrahara.

Officials of Women and Narcotics Squad of CCB intercepted an autorickshaw near Bommanahalli traffic signal on Hosur Main Road and arrested S. Syed Hasan Basha (21) of Madina Mohalla Quarters at 1 {+s} {+t} cross, 2nd Street of Devarajeevanahalli.

The CCB officials were tipped off by some informers inside the prison. They said Syed used to sell the dope to relatives and friends of prisoners who smuggle them in along with food and fruits.

Prison employees were also in cahoots with the racket, the police said.

Ramanagaram robbery

Three men on a motorcycle looted Rs. 1 lakh in cash after injuring employees of a bakery supplier on Marasandra Main Road in the Ramanagaram district on Wednesday night.

The police said the muggers waylaid the victims' autorickshaw while they were returning after collecting cash from various bakeries and threw chilli powder in their eyes.

They also threatened them with a pistol and clubs before snatching the cash bag, the police said.

The police named the victims as Wahid, Jagadeesh and Sathish, employees of a bakery products supplying unit in Nelamangala.

They are being treated in a local hospital.

Arrest was made after the girl's mother made a complaint
