C. Manjula has resigned from her post as the Chairperson of the Karnataka State Women’s Commission citing “government sidelining the commission” as the reason, even as rumours were rife that she would be joining the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) led by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to The Hindu here on Thursday, Ms. Manjula said that the last straw was when the government did not invite her or anyone from the commission for pre-budget consultation.

She has accused the government of not implementing the reports submitted by the commission earlier and not consulting her on women-related issues.
