Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board has constituted a nine-member special disconnection drive squad to check illegal water and sanitary connections. The squad will operate from January 21 in different parts of the city and take steps to disconnect water and sanitary connections if illegal connections are found.

The BWSSB has, in a release, said that after the disconnection, it would send notices to erring consumers highlighting penal provisions under BWSSB Act. The release said that disconnections would be applicable in cases where pro-rata charges have not been paid and to those tapping water illegally.
