Burglars broke into two houses and made good with gold ornaments worth Rs. 3.11 lakh and cash Rs. 42,500 at Mallar village in Kaup.

Kaup police said thieves struck the house of Mohammed Zakir when there was no power supply at around 9.20 p.m. on Wednesday and bolted with gold ornaments, valued at Rs. 1.3 lakh and cash Rs. 33,500.

In another incident, thieves broke into the house of Leela Salian in Mallar in the intervening night of April 17 and 18, and stole gold and silver ornaments worth Rs. 1.81 lakh and cash Rs. 19,000.
