The Police have arrested a person who allegedly committed many burglaries reported in Davangere district for sometime now. The police have recovered a motorcycle and jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh from the arrested.

Superintendent of Police, Davangere district, H.S. Venkatesh has in a statement issued here on Sunday said that the arrested, Yakkanahalli Suresh, was involved in the house burglary cases reported in Kariganuru cross in Davangere taluk, Malebennuru and Jigali. The Superintendent of Police said that the arrested had also committed theft of a motorcycle from a house in Kukkuwada village a month ago and sold the motorcycle to a person in Honnali.

The police said that Mr. Suresh who had gained entry into the Basaveshwara temple in Jigali after he broke open the ceiling of the temple, was disappointed when he did not find money in the ‘Hundi'. Disappointed by this, he had damaged the idol and left the temple.

The police suspected that the arrested may have involved in many house burglary cases reported in and around Davangere.

Hence the police requested the police of neighbouring districts to get complete information about Mr. Suresh if they had similar cases of house burglary reported in their jurisdiction.
