‘Party will field candidates in all 224 Assembly constituencies’

B. Sriramulu, president of the BSR Congress, has said that his party has decided to go it alone in the Assembly elections and will field candidates in all the 224 constituencies.

“The list of candidates is being finalised and will be announced on April 9,” he told presspersons here on Saturday.

First list

He said that the party had released its first list of 24 candidates and had them to start campaigning in their constituencies.

The final list of candidates would be formally announced by the party on April 9 either in Bellary or Bangalore, he said. Mr. Sriramulu said that his nephew, T.H. Suresh Babu, Kampli MLA, had resigned as legislator and also from the BJP and would contest as the BSR Congress candidate from the same constituency.

To a question, he said that G. Somashekar Reddy, MLA, would soon be submitting his resignation and would contest as the BSR Congress candidate from the Bellary (City) constituency.

Mr. Sriramulu dismissed rumours that Lakshmi Aruna, wife of jailed mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy, would be contesting on a BSR Congress ticket as false. “She will not be contesting,” he said.
