The district unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will launch a three-day agitation here from Thursday, demanding regularisation of bagair hukum lands and distribution of lands among farmers.

Speaking to presspersons here recently, BSP State secretary Lakshman Bakkai said the party will hold a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The agitation has been planned to urge the government to implement the V. Subramanian Committee report to sort out different land-related issues. Condemning government schemes such as the Anna Bhagya, Mr. Bakkai said such schemes will not help the weaker sections achieve economic or social stability.

Instead, they compel them to live at the mercy of the government, he said.

He said the winter session of legislature should discuss issues related to north Karnataka.
